Having grown up in war torn Beirut, and seeing the effect wars have on people it was only natural for me to choose psychology for a career.
I graduated with a PhD in clinical psychology from Palo Alto Unitversity in California, and did my clinical training at Stanford University in California, USA.
I am a member of the advisory group for the revision of the ICD-11 with WHO, as well as the coordinator for the field studies for the revison of the ICD in the Arab region.

My research interests relate to sexuality and reproductive health in the Arab region, cultural influences on the diagnostic classification system, and refugee mental health.
Since the war in Syria, i have collaborated closely with UN agencies and NGOs to provide training in psychological first aid and mental health services to refugees, particularly women.
The GCPN network is a unique platform that allows international clinicians to communicate and exchange their expertise and concerns. It gives a voice to clinicians from all over the world.
