I am a Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Columbia University and a Research Psychiatrist at the New York State Psychiatric Institute. I received a BSE in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Princeton University in 1978, and an MS in Computer Science and an MD from the University of Pittsburgh in 1983. I completed my residency training in Psychiatry at Columbia University in 1987 and a fellowship in Biometrics Research under Robert L. Spitzer, in 1988.


My research interest is in the area of psychiatric diagnosis and assessment. I am the chief technical and editorial consultant for the ICD-11 revision of the Mental and behavioral disorders chapter.
