About

I am a social psychologist who has been involved in drug and mental health research for the last four decades. Examples of this work include the national household surveys on addictions regularly undertaken in Mexico, which I coordinated from 1988 to 2002, as well as the Mexican Survey on Mental Health and Use of Services as part of the World Mental Health Survey. At the moment I have the Chair for the field studies to test the recommendations for WHO´s ICD-11 Mental and Behavioral Disorders.

Interests

Cross cultural and global mental health research has been also part of my main interests, culminating with the developtment of the WHO-UNAM-INPRFM Center for Global Mental Health Reseach in Mexico.
