I am a Senior Research Scientist at INSERM, the national health and medical research institute of France. I trained as a sociocultural and medical anthropologist at Columbia University and developed further expertise as an NIMH Fellow in Psychiatric Epidemiology. I believe that research on psychiatric classification and applications can benefit from input on how people living with mental illnesses understand diagnoses and experience their conditions, as well as how these are shaped by context.
I am exploring uses of psychiatric classification systems by those they concern most: patients/service users, their entourage, clinicians and caregivers. My current research sites are in West Africa .
